Platform
1.) Safe Drinking Water
Terry Cuddy is informed and engaged with local, state, and federal officials to address the immediate and long-term threats to our drinking water and the Owasco Lake watershed. Without safe public drinking water Auburn and Cayuga County have nothing, it is the City and region’s most vital asset and the City Council needs to remain vigilant as they work through short-term fixes and long-term solutions for our public water supply.
2.) Quality of Life
As a City Councilor, Terry has learned one cannot make meaningful change alone. Cuddy values the dedicated team of people who work for the people of Auburn to deliver essential daily services whether it be distributing water, maintaining roads, or providing public safety. The current City Council values all Auburn has to offer and continually meets the community’s high expectations for quality of life.
3.) Downtown Renaissance
Downtown Auburn’s renaissance has provided the foundation for Auburn becoming an even greater destination for tourists, retail businesses and a quality housing market. The future of the local economy must have a City Council that works to support and partner with future investors in an accountable and respectful manner. In the past three-and-a-half years Cuddy has demonstrated that when the City works in partnership with others many great things can happen. He plans to keep this kind of progress going in the right direction.
4.) Fiscal Stability During and
After the Pandemic
One of the first things Cuddy did was to hire a competent City Comptroller. Working with a Comptroller the Council instituted long-term financial planning into City budgeting. He has made crucial fiscal decisions that have put the CIty into an improved financial situation. Now that the COVID-19 pandemic has introduced much uncertainty, the council needs to continue on this fiscally stable course, because we do not want to go backwards.
